My Second Visit

27 Mar 08 is my second visit to the gynea. For this visit, I went to KK hospital for my check up instead of the private clinic at Tanglin Shopping Centre. The reasons for not going back to the previous clinic were due to their poor services and high consultation fees.

My doctor in KK hospital had done my health screening back in Sept 07. I find him courteous and friendly and I felt quite comfortable with him.

Upon reaching the hospital, I have to go through the registration process again. Once again, I was given some questionnaire to answer on my pregnancy. My hubby and I went to different test stations for my varies screening and urine test before seeing the doctor.

During Ultra Screening, the nurse who helped me with the screening is once again not gentle, she pressed very hard onto my tummy to get a better scan of my fetus and it is quite painful. I wonder why I have to go through with this type of attitude from the nurses again. The routine tests which consist of ultra-screening, weight taking, urine test and blood pressure test took about half an hour to complete. My weight remains as 51.6kg and we are able to see a formed shape of my baby. He / She is 8.4 weeks and is 18mm in length. :)

After all the tests, we waited for an hour for the doctor is because he is in the process of delivering a baby.

My First Visit

I had my first gynea visit on 17 Mar 08, at The Tow Yung Clinic in Tanglin Shopping Centre. This is my first time seeing my baby, I'm so excited.

At 9 am on 17 Mar 08 while still lying in bed, I made a call to the clinic to make an appointment. The only available time slot is at 10.15am, so I jumped out of bed to prepare for the trip.

When hubby and I arrived at the clinic, to my surprise it was full of people. I did not expect the clinic to be so crowded on a Monday morning. I quickly went straight to the counter for registration in order to beat the crowd.

Registering for the first time was troublesome. A long list of questions were being asked. I am also required to measure my weight, height, blood pressure and also doing an urine test. Ever since I am pregnant, I lost 2kg and am currently weighing at 51.6kg. After all the tests, I was told to wait outside the room for my turn to see the doctor. 5 mins later, a nurse came out of the room and invited us in.

Upon seeing us, the doctor thank us for contributing to the Singapore's birth rate, we laughed and find him friendly and cheerful. Shortly after that I was led to another part of the room to prepare for my ultra sound screening. During examination, as he was not gentle I felt pain and discomfort by the equipment he used. The screening enable us to see the image of the foetus and we were also able to hear the heartbeat, it was so amazing. At that time, I was 5-6 weeks pregnant and the foetus was only 0.47mm wide. The size of the foetus is just a 10 cent coin in the water bag. After the examination, the doctor told us that everything is normal and advised me to eat well. We checked with him on a number of our enquiries and we felt that the answer he has given us were neither sincere nor professional.

During the trip, there was an unpleasant incident that I would like to complain. One of the nurse who attended to me was very rude and impatient. She spoke very softly, when i could not hear what she said and asked her to repeat, she became frustrated. Without further explanation, she pulls my bra abruptly and asked me to unhook it for the examination. I told myself not to be angry and just smile as nothing happened.

ReHiz~~~~

Hi, I'm back. It has been one year since my blog has been left to rot. Haha!!

In a New Year, with a New Life.....
Life has never been the same since 22 Jan 08, a new life is growing inside me. I did not notice a change until one and a half months later, haha.. Slow right??

I have been feeling very tired, cold and unwell in Feb thinking that it is due to workload and stress in work. On the 14 Mar 08, I decided to take a day off from work to rest as I could not take it anymore.

A week ago, I have a feeling that my body is not functioning as before and I have missed my period. Thus, on the day off I decided to take a pregnancy test and to my surprise it was positive. I was stunned for a few second as I do not know if I should be happy or worried. I am worried that I have never been wanting a baby as I could not stand kids screaming and crying. On the other hand, I am happy because babies are cute.

I immediately show hubby the test kit, he surprised me by asking me what is this? I explained to him and he was astonished. I could feel that he is very happy as I know he has always wanted a kid of his own even though he keep saying that no matter whether we have or don't is fine for him.

After knowing that I am pregnant, he is so excited and become very caring . He helped me with most of the house chorus like cleaning the floor, bathing the dog, refilling the kettle, washing the dishes, hanging the clothes, etc. I did not expect anything like that to happen before and I am so glad and appreciate that he has taken the initiative to do all the things. I, on the other hand has became a piggy, no matter how long I sleep, it will never be enough.

On Saturday morning, I went to see a doctor in order to get some folic acid and was given a MC on the coming Monday. The doctor also advised me to see a gynae as soon as possible.

On Monday (17 Mar 08), I went to one of the clinic in Tanglin Shopping Centre to see a gynae. The gynea showed me the un-formed baby (just a dot) and we are able to hear the heart beat of the foetus. We were so excited. A screen shot has been taken and given to us as for keeping.
